Solar energy stocks are really hot over the last several weeks. Lots of speculations about mergers and acquisitions, cancelled deals (SUNE cancelled the deal of its subsidiary earlier this month) and other interesting things are happening on the market right now! I want to look at the multiples, to get the better understanding of how we can make some money out of it. The first company, which I don't consider as a good investment opportunity is SolarCity (SCTY). As you can see from the table above, the company is hugely overvalued according to the multiples. Hugely I mean several times above the market. Trina Solar, JA Solar and First Solar seem to be under the market. Let's check the operating metrics of these three companies in comparison with the market. As you can see from the table above, First Solar margins and growth rates are significantly higher than the market median. However, JA Solar and Trina Solar have the numbers above the average as well. I am planning to make my own due dil of these three companies, but they seem to be a good addition to my current portfolio. What do you do with solar industry to get the profit?
